Dr. Avishek Kumar is a global climate-tech entrepreneur and Founder & Chairman of Sunkonnect. He is also Co-Founder and Board Advisor of VFlowTech Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based pioneer in long-duration energy storage, and co-founder of Datakrew (AI and industrial IoT analytics). A serial deep-tech entrepreneur, he has co-founded three technology ventures spanning IoT, solar energy, and advanced energy storage — each scaled from early-stage innovation to commercial impact.
As founding CEO of VFlowTech, he led the company from laboratory innovation to global commercialization, deploying vanadium-based long-duration energy-storage systems across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Prior to VFlowTech, he was one of the principal developers of high-efficiency half-cut PERC mono solar modules — an innovation that helped drive a significant reduction in global solar PV module costs. Collectively, his work has contributed to the deployment of over 1 GW of solar and energy-storage projects across multiple geographies.
Dr. Kumar holds a PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National University of Singapore and a Master of Science in Microelectronics, plus a certificate in Financing and Deploying Clean Energy from the Yale School of Management. An NRF Clean Energy Scholar, he has published over 50 scientific papers and secured multiple patents, and is a frequent speaker at global energy forums, policy roundtables, and academic conferences.
